The Money Advice Trust has today announced that a number of its training programmes across both its vulnerability training and consultancy and Wiseradviser services, have achieved the City & Guilds Assured Quality Mark.

On the charity’s vulnerability training and consultancy side, the courses that have achieved the Quality Assured Mark are, its ‘Supporting customers in vulnerable circumstances’ and award-winning Vulnerability Academy, in partnership with UK Finance. For Wiseradviser, the Assured Mark has been awarded to the service’s debt advice induction training, made up of its triage debt advice and specialist debt advice courses.

City & Guilds Assured Quality Mark is an independently assessed benchmark that recognises the quality of the design and delivery of training. It is awarded to training programmes that reach their required level across seven areas, including a detailed examination of training quality assurance, evaluation and assessment processes.

Any learners who undertake these programmes and reach the required assessment level will be eligible to apply for a digital credential which can be used to evidence the knowledge and skills developed through our training.

Last year the charity’s Training and Consultancy service, which provides training for creditor organisations to improve support for customers in vulnerable circumstances, trained over to 3,690 staff in 45 creditor organisations.

In 2021, Wiseradviser, which trains the majority of the free-to-client debt advice sector in England and Wales, provided 26,780 training places to 4,300 advisers in 1,010 free-to-client agencies in the UK.

Lyndsey Humphries, head of training and consultancy at the Money Advice Trust, said:

“I am delighted to see a range of our training programmes achieve the City & Guilds Assured Quality Mark, which reflects of the quality of the design and assessments of our training. Achieving this training standard is recognition of the role our training plays in supporting the continuous professional development of staff in both the creditor and advice sectors.

“This is only the start, however, as we look forward to continuing our work with City & Guilds to increase the number of our courses that achieve the Quality Assured Mark.

“I would encourage anyone interested in any of our Wiseradviser and vulnerability courses to get in touch to find out how we can help with your training needs.”

A spokesperson from City & Guilds said:

"The City & Guilds Assured service is an organisation’s way of showing they are committed to high quality training, including ensuring content is constantly reviewed to ensure validity of content to the latest market requirements.  Those participating on these programmes can be confident that a robust review and the quality associated with City & Guilds has been thoroughly reviewed and we are pleased to add our name to this important area, especially at the moment with rising inflation, and people requiring support on how to cope."
