Suicide First Aid Training

A partnership between the Money Advice Trust and the National Centre for Suicide Prevention, Education and Training to support staff and save lives.

Each year, 1 in 4 frontline staff will receive one or more disclosures of suicide.

These conversations can be challenging and difficult for everyone involved.

To save lives and help staff, the Money Advice Trust and the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Education and Training CIC (NCSPT) have developed Suicide First Aid for Essential Services. This training helps frontline staff keep customers safe, look after their own well-being, and comply with key law and regulation.



Each year, 100,000 customers in financial difficulty will attempt suicide. The reason why may be complex, but part of the solution is relatively simple: learning to talk about suicide.

How we can help you: our training

We equip frontline staff with the skills and confidence to intervene. The focus is on immediate safety, not fixing problems or trying to deliver therapeutic interventions. The skills we teach can be mastered by anyone.

Suicide First Aid is available as:

  • A full-day course (City & Guilds accredited)
  • A half-day course
  • In-house and public courses
  • Consultancy options

This the only course of its kind for essential services and is ideal for specialist teams, team leaders, managers and any member of staff in a customer-facing role.
