UK inflation eases for first time in five months to 3.6% before crunch budget

“Today’s inflation figures may suggest progress on the headline rate, but for millions of households the reality is unchanged – everyday essentials remain unaffordable for many. Families are still facing impossible choices between heating, eating and paying the bills. 

“With the Chancellor’s Budget just a week away, this is the moment for decisive action. We need measures that bring down household costs and protect those on the lowest incomes – from energy support to fairer pricing for essentials. Without this, more people will fall into problem debt.
