Inclusive design in partnership with Nile

We’ve partnered with Nile – experts in service and experience design – to deliver inclusive design training that help organisations build services that truly work for everyone

We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Nile – experts in service and experience design – to deliver inclusive design training courses that help organisations build services that truly work for everyone.

Nile is a strategic design consultancy that helps organisations in highly-regulated sectors meet and exceed their obligations by putting people first. Through detailed customer research, ethical AI and human-centred design, Nile uncovers the real needs of the people using enterprise services – transforming complex journeys into inclusive experiences that create better outcomes for everyone.

We will be combining Nile’s expertise and our experience in vulnerability, giving you the tools to create more accessible, inclusive and effective experiences for consumers.

These courses have been designed for product design and marketing teams, vulnerability specialists or anyone whose role involves championing the needs of customers in vulnerable circumstances.

Course aims

Course Outcomes:

  • Intersectionality, responsibility, inclusion beyond consumer duty and how inclusion is not designing for all
  • Explore inclusivity in practice, in process, in systems and in governance within organisations through examples
  • Research recruitment, scoping, continuous improvement, training and assessment tools
  • Help identify ways your organisation can research and design more inclusively
  • Reflection exercise to identify areas to address, based on examples shared
  • Help individuals think of inclusion as a connected organisational system

Nile founder Sarah Ronald said:

“Making essential services human-centred and truly inclusive has been at the heart of Nile’s mission since day one. I know the Money Advice Trust shares that commitment completely, which makes this partnership both natural and powerful. The FCA has been clear that the sector must do better for vulnerable customers, and our Inclusive design course will help organisations move things forward.”

Chris Fitch, our vulnerability consultant said:

“Interest in inclusive design has never been greater. But knowing about inclusive design is not enough. Organisations need the skills, strategies, and staff who can practice it. This is why we are launching a new training course on inclusive design for regulated organisations, with the pioneering design agency Nile. This combines Nile’s unparalleled expertise in inclusive design, with our specialist track-record in consumer vulnerability.

The need for this course has never been greater. The Financial Conduct Authority, for example, report that while 85% of organisations say they design inclusively, only 29% actually undertake foundational design practices (such as user-testing). Critically, this isn’t restricted to financial services: it affects all regulated sectors. And it may explain why up to 65% of customers in vulnerable circumstances report that products and service designs do not meet their basic needs. *

This is the reason why Nile and the Money Advice Trust are collaborating. To give regulated organisations the practical skills, strategies and techniques needed to design inclusively for better consumer experience and outcomes. And to ultimately prevent avoidable consumer harm, exclusion, and inaccessibility from our essential services and product lines.”

*All statistics cited are from the Financial Conduct Authority reports: “Delivering good outcomes for customers in vulnerable circumstances – Good practice and areas for improvement” (FCA, 2025); and “Vulnerability review. Improving understanding of the outcomes for consumers in vulnerable circumstances when engaging with financial services firms” (Critical Research, prepared for the FCA, 2025).
